Unconditional Family

Peculiar is proud to present:

UNCONDITIONAL
FAMILY

An LGBTQ+ Holistic Health & Wellbeing Initiative

Old & Tragic Problem

  • In the Hebrew Torah, the first observation about human nature is that it is not good for a human to be alone
  • We ideally enter this world receiving unconditional love from others
  • If we are fortunate, we also exit this world receiving unconditional love from others
  • Across our lifespan, a connection to unconditional love is vital for flourishing and well-being
  • For too many youth, that connection is broken
  • The consequences are literally deadly

New & Hopeful Solution

Partnership between world-class scientific researchers and grassroots LGBTQ+ nonprofit organization for a first-of-its-kind integration of:
  • Spirituality Studies
  • Social Science
  • Medical Science
Production of original science and original curriculum focused on personal and familial psycho-social-spiritual growth.

UNCONDITIONAL FAMILY curriculum will integrate didactic learning, social and peer support, and carefully-crafted neurospiritual exercises.

Current Approaches:

Good but Insufficient

Dominant organizational comparables add value and services that assist LGBTQ+ individuals, but they are grossly insufficient to meet the dynamic range of real-world LGBTQ+ needs for health and wellbeing.

Good but insufficient programs include:
  • A telephone hotline for suicidal individuals
  • A single time point research study on family dynamics
None of these programs generate new clinical interventions,
nor do they produce ongoing or longitudinal scientifically-validated data.

These gaps in the current LGBTQ+ wellness landscape are problematic.

How Unconditional Family is Different

Unconditional Family is different from other LGBTQ+ holistic health and wellbeing initiatives in at least three crucial ways:
  1. We are partnering with researchers and clinicians at Harvard Medical School to develop new interventions for LGBTQ+ health and wellness challenges, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), addiction, and suicidal behavior.
  2. We will generate ongoing, longitudinal data to understand how risk factors vary over time in tandem with life experiences and personal development.
  3. We will make a focused effort to integrate findings from the emerging scientific and medical fields of neurospirituality and spiritual therapeutics.
